The Oakdale school has held the Walkathon for the past several years. Students got pledges from friends and family and on Thursday walked to the Maplewood Nature Center.

The funds go into the school’s budget and support its programming, Heuman said.

β€œWe have a lot of fun with it and it builds school spirit,” she said. β€œAnd obviously it’s a very important part of our budget.”
