Vacant No More? New Beginnings on Horizon for Long-Time Vacant Gas Station

It looks like a Kwik Trip will be taking over the vacant gas station at the corner of Hadley Avenue and Highway 5.

Community Development Director Bob Streetar announced to the city council Tuesday night that Kwik Trip has closed on the property that once housed a Winner gas station. The property has been vacant at least seven or eight years, Streetar said.

The Kwik Trip plans to put up a service station and a car wash at the site, although no formal plans have come before the city for approval yet, Streetar said. 

Streetar estimates that the city will receive plans from Kwik Trip in the next 30-90 days so that they can get proper approvals and possibly begin construction this year. 

"They have been providing us information, but until we see a plan it's pretty hard to know what to say," Streetar said. 

Kwik Trip will need to go through the Planning Commission and City Council before moving forward.
