Blue Water Theater's 'Company' Stars Local Talent

Wayzata group's production in Minneapolis next month to feature more than a dozen local high school and college students.

Blue Water Theatre Company will be presenting the musical Company at Bryant-Lake Bowl in Minneapolis from Aug. 22-25.

This production is directed by Hopkins High School senior Sam Weisberg, and features a cast of 14 high school and college students. These students represent Carleton College (Northfield), Cretin-Durham Hall, Emerson College (Boston), Hopkins High School, McNally Smith College of Music (Minneapolis), Tufts University (Boston) and .

The show follows Robert, a single man living in New York City, and his varied interactions with his married friends. Through a series of songs and vignettes, Company poses questions about single living, urban life, fear of commitment, marriage, sexual identity and relationships in all parts of life.

Now, more than 40 years after its creation, the themes of marriage and relationships in Company are more poignant than ever, especially as Minnesota debates the merits of the proposed marriage amendment.

The students involved in this production will bring an intimate staging and youthful perspective to a show that is still very relevant for today's audiences.

The show will take place at Bryant-Lake Bowl (810 West Lake Street in Minneapolis) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22; Thursday, August 23; Friday, August 24; and Saturday, August 25. Tickets are available at www.bryantlakebowl.com.
