City of Plymouth To Honor Twenty Volunteers at Concert Ceremony June 27

The city of Plymouth will honor all volunteers from the last 20 years with a concert and awards ceremony at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at the Hilde Performance Center, 3450 Plymouth Blvd. The event is free and open to the public.

The 7:30 p.m. Volunteer Service Awards ceremony, held during intermission of a free Wild Goose Chase Cloggers concert, will recognize 20 outstanding volunteers who have made a significant impact and whose service has helped to improve the quality of life for Plymouth residents, enhance city operations and maintain city facilities and amenities.

The award-winning Wild Goose Chase Cloggers is a Minnesota non-profit educational organization, which promotes interest in traditional Appalachian clogging. “The Geese” offer school programs, workshops for all ages and performances. Established in 1979, the band consists of 13 dancers accompanied by music from the Yard Buzzard String Band.

Volunteer Service Awards
“I was on the team that reviewed nominations and narrowed the list to those who would be honored with Volunteer Service Awards. Selecting just 20 was a formidable – and humbling – job,” said Mayor Kelli Slavik, who will help to present the awards. “All were worthy of recognition so our team scored the nominations in five categories: commitment; uniqueness or deserving; passion and motivation; community impact; and inspiration and leadership.”

Award recipients include Barney and Judy Barnaal; Dr. Roy Beacham; Kersten Beckstrom; Wolfgang Boss; Dick Burkhardt; Wayzata High School Club Y.E.S., Youth Extending Service, and Mary Kay Williams, coordinator; Vern Dotseth; Jacque Frazzini; Gary Goldetsky; Liga Hanson; The Plymouth Home Depot; John and Paula Kaminski; Leanne Loren; Claire McEwan; Kathy Osborne; Roman Rowan; Merry Anne Rosengren; Ellie Singer; John Sullivan; and Floyd Wilvers.
