Hennepin County Weapon Screening Yields Results
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office shares the items found during its first week of weapon screening at suburban court facilities.

More than 3,000 people passed through weapons screening checkpoints at several area Hennepin County court locations April 23.
And what was found? About 70 different items were removed from people at three different court facilities that included knives, box cutters, sharp items, nail clippers and mace.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office has released the following information that describes prohibited items found during the first week of weapon screening at suburban court facilities.

Hennepin County installed weapons screening equipment and began interim weapon screening at the suburban court facilities at Brookdale in Brooklyn Park, Southdale in Edina and Ridgedale in Minnetonka.
The Sheriff’s Office urged having this added safety measure because of violent incidents and threats that have occurred statewide and nationwide in courthouses.

The Sheriff’s Office works in partnership with Hennepin County Property Services and agencies in the Fourth Judicial District Court system to maintain public safety in 96 courtrooms throughout Hennepin County.
