Winter Storm Warning For This Weekend in Plymouth

The metro could be hit by a winter storm this weekend, according to National Weather Service forecasters.

It's time to break out the shovels and snowplows.

Snow started falling Friday afternoon. And according to the National Weather Service a winter storm warning has been issued for this weekend.

The first of two systems is currently producing light snow across most of southern Minnesota. The snow will taper off Friday evening with an inch or two possible.

NWS reports a second system will develop the winter storm from Saturday night into Sunday:

Snow will spread into western Minnesota by early Saturday evening and push eastward. The snow could be heavy and bring five to eight inches overnight is possible northeast of I-94. Wind gusts up to 40 mph is possible on Sunday afternoon with near blizzard conditions expected west from Alexandria to Wilmar and Mankato.

Drifting snow is more possible in our neck of the woods. Blowing snow is predicted for the eastern portions of the state.
