Plymouth Man Accused of Threatening to Kill Woman

Police say Melvin Robinson III told the woman that if she called 911, she would be dead before help arrived.

A Plymouth man has been charged with threatening to kill a woman with a 12-inch knife when she tried to call 911 last week.

Melvin Robinson III, 24, is charged with making terroristic threats, a felony with a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Robinson remains in the Hennepin County Jail on a $30,000 bond. He is also being held on an outstanding Minneapolis warrant charging him with driving while intoxicated.

According to the criminal complaint, compiled by Plymouth Police Officer Jeff Dorfsman, police were called to a Plymouth home on April 6 by a friend of the victim.

The victim told police that Robinson had threatened to kill her if she called anyone, including 911. She said he pulled out a 12-inch kitchen knife, put it on the table and said, “If you call 911, you will be dead before they arrive,” according to the complaint.

The victim said she was afraid Robinson would follow through on his threats, so she sent a text message to a friend, asking her to call 911 on her behalf.

Police found the knife at the scene and arrested Robinson.
