Plymouth Man Charged with Leading Police on High-Speed Chase
Police said Isaiah Anthony Banks fled when an officer spotted him speeding, then abandoned his car and fled on foot.

A Plymouth man has been charged with leading police on a high-speed chase through a residential area of Minneapolis when they tried to stop him for speeding.
Isaiah Anthony Banks, 21, is charged with fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, a felony with a maximum penalty of three years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
According to the criminal complaint, signed by Minneapolis Police Sgt. Bradley Simonson, an officer doing traffic enforcement on Lyndale Avenue South near 43rd Avenue North spotted a car speeding on Lyndale just before 7:30 p.m. Aug. 13.

The officer clocked the car at 41 mph in a 30 mph zone. He activated his emergency lights and siren and tried to stop the car.
The driver accelerated to 60 mph and led the officer on a chase through the neighborhood before driving into an alley, jumping out of the car and fleeing on foot, according to the complaint.

The officer found the driver, identified as Banks, in a backyard about a block away from his abandoned car. A witness identified him as the man who jumped out of the car and fled.
Police discovered that Banks was being sought on outstanding Minneapolis warrants charging him with driving with a suspended license and driving with no insurance.
Banks has been released from custody on a $20,000 bond. An omnibus hearing in his case is scheduled Sept. 14 in Hennepin County District Court.
