Plymouth Man Stars in Cross Community Musical
As Geppetto, David Dexter of Plymouth stars in "My Son Pinocchio" opening July 20.
The days countdown as local community theater group, Cross Community Players diligently rehearse for their summer production.
CCP has been putting on musicals every summer, (and since 1997, every winter).
This summer brings family fun into the mix, with a new perspective on a Disney classic. "My Son Pinocchio" follows the life of Geppetto and his journey in becoming a "real-live father."

The musical features nearly 40 actors in elaborate costumes, sets and characters, with some recognizable tunes.
The lead role of Geppetto stars David Dexter of Plymouth, a CCP veteran. Dexter has previously performed with CCP as a bird in "Frog and Toad," and the Kralahome in Rogers and Hammerstein's "The King and I."

This is his first starring role with Cross Community Players.
For each performance, CCP asks every patron to bring one food or school supply item for C.R.O.S.S. Food Shelf.
This unique relationship with the food shelf has been cultivated since its start in 1980, when it began with a small musical benefit for the charity organization. Since then, CCP has put on 48 shows, including popular titles such as "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," "South Pacific," and the more recent favorite, "Seussical."
Their grassroots beginnings have now grown into a seasoned non-profit organization with hundreds of participants.
"We want to provide the community with the opportunity for artistic and musical expression as well as promote community service," said CCP Vice President, Glorianne Svitak.
CCP's 2012 winter production showcased the beloved children's story, "A Year with Frog and Toad" to record attendance, giving them plenty of momentum for their next big show.
Performances for "My Son Pinocchio" are 7:30 p.m. starting this week: July 20-21, 26-28, and 2 p.m. July 22 and 29, in the Maple Grove Senior High School auditorium.
