This Week: Plymouth Farmers Market Opens June 19

Residents can by fresh, local produce starting this Wednesday, June 19, and every Wednesday through Oct. 2.

Fresh Farmers Market produce is less than two weeks away.

Plymouth’s Farmers Market kicks off June 19 at the Plymouth Ice Center parking lot (3650 Plymouth Blvd.). The market will be open from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Oct. 2.

More than 20 vendors will offer fresh, local produce and prepared food. For opening night, there will also be children’s activities, fake tattoos and balloon animals. Mayor Kelli Slavik will sound the horn to mark the opening of the market.

Each week, there will be local musicians, children’s activities and a drawing for a Farmers Market basket at the information table.

There are other activities planned, as well. Each month starting in July, a city volunteer will host a children’s story time and offer a recipe. There will be an antique car show July 24 with the assistance of the Plymouth Historical Society. And there will be a nutrition-themed night in August.

Charities and non-profits can use the market’s community table for fundraising, promotions and educations. To apply, call Recreation Supervisor Alyssa Krumholz at 763-509-5225 or email akrumholz@Plymouthmn.gov at least two weeks in advance.

Donations for the Interfaith Outreach food shelf will also be collected. Donations can be bought at the market or elsewhere.
