Unknown 'MacGyver' Damages 3 Plymouth Mailboxes

Three Plymouth mailboxes were damaged with a “MacGyver-type device” two days before Christmas, according to the most recent incident report from the Plymouth Police Department.

Officers reported that mailboxes in the 10400 block of 39th Avenue North, the 10100 block of 31st Avenue North and the 12000 block of 50th Avenue North were damaged between 8 and 9:30 a.m. Dec. 23. Two of the mailboxes were valued at $50 each; there was no damage estimate on the third.

Just after 1 a.m. Dec. 28, police were called to a report of a party involving underage drinking in the 2700 block of Evergreen Lane North and the 11600 block of 26th Avenue North. One 18-year-old Plymouth man was cited for fleeing a police officer and underage drinking.

Police also issued citations for underage drinking to a 19-year-old Minnetonka woman; five 19-year-old Plymouth men; a 19-year-old Medina man; a 19-year-old Maple Grove woman; an 18-year-old Maple Grove woman; two 18-year-old Plymouth men; two 18-year-old Plymouth women; and a 17-year-old juvenile female.

The police department’s report from Dec. 22-28 included 51 incidents:

• One fight
• One forced entry into a business
• Three thefts from vehicles
• One stolen bicycle
• One arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with an expired license
• One traffic stop resulting in citations for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and curfew violation
• One traffic stop resulting in citations for marijuana possession and obstructing the legal process
• Three incidents of damaged mailboxes
• Two reports of damage to vehicles
• One report of a disturbance
• Six domestic assaults
• Two DUI arrests
• One arrest for DUI, marijuana possession and leaving the scene of an accident
• One report of an underage party resulting in 15 arrests
• One report of a fraudulent check
• One report of a counterfeit check
• Four reports of credit-card or bank fraud
• Two hit-and-run accidents
• One traffic stop resulting in three juveniles cited for underage drinking
• Two vehicle thefts
• One arrest for driving with a canceled license and possession of stolen property
• One report of receiving threatening text messages
• Nine reports of theft
• Two arrests for shoplifting
• One gasoline drive-off
• One report of an employee stealing lottery tickets and making false refunds to offset the discrepancy
