
Sixty-eight students this week earned their G.E.D. or high school diploma through the Roseville Area Schools Adult Learning Center, according to school district officials.Â
The Learning Center held its 41rst graduation ceremony Wednesday at the Fairview Community Center.
Graduates of the program represented a variety of national origins as well as ages. Besides American-born students, some of the graduates were originally from Burma, Laos, Somalia and Pakistan. They ranged in age from 19 to mid-50s.

More than 2,300 graduates have received their G.E.D. or high school diploma since the inception of the program, school officials said.

In 1970, a design team created three different graduate programs, the school district said. Two of these were focused on students enrolled in school but who needed non-traditional methods for making academic progress. The third program was designed to assist adult students no longer enrolled in the traditional high school in returning to their studies in a supportive, caring and nurturing environment, officials said.
Originally a night program, a day adult education component was added along with English as a Second Language. .
