Alzheimer's Speaks Named a Premier Partner of Sharecare

Lori La Bey, a native of Roseville, is the founder of Alzheimer's Speaks.

Sharecare, a national health and wellness social media platform that connects people with leading medical experts, has named  Alzheimer’s Speaks as a Premier Partner.

Twin Cities-based Alzheimer’s Speaks, founded and lead by Roseville native Lori La Bey, is the leading provider of information and social media communities for people coping with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, Sharecare officials said in statement.

As a Premier Partner, Alzheimer’s Speaks will make available its vast library of information about living with and caring for people with Alzheimer’s disease, Sharecare officials said. The distribution platforms include blogs, radio, webinars, videos, consulting, live events, long distance learning, training and websites.

La Bey, who grew up in Roseville, brought the first U.K. Memory Café to the U.S., which is in Roseville. That group meets at  Arthur’s Memory Café, 2441 Rice St., Roseville.

The group "offers a safe, friendly and supportive environment for people with early memory loss and their caregivers to gather and build new friendships and a sense of community," La Bey recently told Roseville Patch. That sense of community is something that is so often lost when Alzheimer's or dementia strikes a person, she said.

The Memory Cafe gatherings are held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month from 1 to 3 p.m. The sessions are free.

Sharecare said that through its multi-channel platform and Premier Partners, its organization provides people with a one-stop shop for accurate, clear and concise health and wellness information.

“Our association with Alzheimer’s Speaks is a game changer,” Donna Hill Howes, senior vice president of Sharecare, said in a statement. “Alzheimer’s Speaks has a large repository of content and has impressive distribution channels for information regarding Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Our partnership will benefit the millions of people who come to Sharecare monthly including Alzheimer’s patients, family members and professionals who need accurate and up-to-date information about the disease.”

Meanwhile, in a statement, La Bey said, "The collaboration between Sharecare and Alzheimer’s Speaks will enable both organizations to expand their reach not only in the dementia community but all people, as this disease is effecting everyone around the world if they know it or not.”
