Diary From London Olympics: "Watching Usain Bolt..Was Quite an Experience"

Roseville chiropractor Dr. Scott Halida flew out on Thursday,  Aug. 2 on one of the biggest trips of his life: He has been serving on the U.S. medical team that is assisting various American athletes and teams attending the summer Olympics in London.

Halida, who has been a chiropractor for 13 years and practices at the said that being a part of the Olympic games has been "emotional and cool to experience."  He sent the following email Friday afternoon (Aug. 10) to Roseville Patch:

"Travel was very good. Icelandic Air was nice and the people in London are wonderful. The locals all say that the foot traffic and patronage to their restaurants and shops is actually slightly less than normal. They say a lot of londoners probably left the city to avoid the rush of people here. 

Cabbies have had a tough time also since the government painted an Olympic only lane and you had to pay a large sum of money to use it daily.

As you have seen the USA has done well in the medals.  We have enjoyed a good trip and the teams we mostly help have done well.  Kayla Harrison was the first gold ever for the womens Judo team and has overcome so much with being very shy and introverted as a young lady and also being sexually abused.  Go Kayla!!! 

Also, Marti Malloy won a bronze for judo and Travis (Stevens) came in 5th so did well for the men. 

We also had a good time working with the wrestlers. The men did not pull off a medal in the Grecco Roman but we did enjoy watching the medal rounds anyway.  There was some fantastic action.  The heavyweight from Cuba was unstoppable.

Watching Usain Bolt run the 200 was quite an experience and heck just being in the Olympic stadium to see them was breath taking. 

Being next to the flame is quite impressive.  Hearing and watching first hand medal ceremonies has been emotional at times and cool to experience."
