Fire Crews Battled Arden Hills House Fire

The Roseville Fire Department assisted the Lake Johanna Fire Department and other nearby fire fighting units to put out a house fire Monday afternoon in the 3200 block of Snelling Avenue in Arden Hills.

Lake Johanna Fire Chief Tim Boehlke said firefighters were dispatched to the home minutes before 1 p.m. and found flames shooting out of the patio door from the kitchen. He said a UPS driver, at the scene to make a delivery, called  911 after seeing a dog frantically barking and witnessing smoke come through the front door of the house. 

No people were home at the time of the fire, Boehlke said. The home sustained heavy fire damage to the kitchen, heat damage throughout the fire floor and smoke damage on the second floor, he said.

Firefighters initially entered the home through the front door but were repelled by intense heat, Boehlke said. One Lake Johanna firefighter suffered facial burns, he said. That individually was treated at the scene by an Allina paradmedics. Twin Cities Fire Wire reported that firefighter was taken to Regions Hospital where he was treated and released.

Boehlke said it took firefighters about 15 to 20 minutes to getting the blaze under control. He said the Roseville department was instrumental in putting down several hundred of hose lines to bring water up to the house, which is more than 1,000 feet back from the roadway and abuts Lake Johanna

Besides getting help from Roseville, the Lake Johanna Fire Department also enlisted mutual aid support from the New Brighton and Vadnais Heights fire departments, Boehlke said
