Gerry McDonald Among Seven Vying for Roseville Council
McDonald takes issue with the direction of Roseville.

Gerry McDonald has never been involved in poliitics -until now.
The 52-year-old Roseville man recently threw his hat into the ring, among seven people filing for two seats on the Roseville City Council.
"If you don't like the direction of the City Council and some of the things they are doing, then it's time to step forward and see if you can do a better job," said McDonald, who has been a Roseville resident since 2003.

McDonald said that he has been concerned how the city has handled some development issues (including the proposed Wal-Mart store and a previously proposed but beaten-back asphalt plant). "They (the Council) treat Roseville like a commodity rather than a community," he asserted. "It's seems like they more interested in catering to business rather than the citizens."
McDonald, who works as a production specialist at Flint Hills refinery at Pine Bend, said Roseville has great parks and community "and that's what we need to focus on."

McDonald, who retired from the U.S. Navy after 26 years of service, is married to his wife Julie and has two daughters.
Roseville will hold a primary election for the City Council on Aug. 14.
