One hundred ten homes participated in the third annual Roseville garage sale in 2011, up from 85 homes that participated in 2010 but down from the inaugural year when there were 130 homes on the garage sale tour.
The scoop on the city-wide garage sale? The idea was sparked by resident Mary (Nelson) Sherpa.
In an interview with Roseville Patch last year, Sherpa said she approached Roseville officials in 2008 about holding a community-wide garage sale because she had seen them in other cities like Woodbury and Falcon Heights.
Sherpa said the Roseville garage sale is a great way to attract people from outside the city to come and visit many homes within a short distance. And for residents holding garage sales, the event is a good way to recycle household goods and items they no longer want or need anymore, she said.
