Independence Party State Convention Saturday in Roseville

Delegates and candidates of the Independence Party of Minnesota will gather for the group's state convention Saturday (June 23) in Roseville. 

The political shindig starts at 11 a.m. Saturday at the 2180 Hamline Ave. North. Check-in starts at 10:30 a.m.
 
In a news statement,  IP Chairman Mark Jenkins said he plans to recognize the party’s 2012 candidates for office during the morning session along with former party leaders and noted guests. The party also expects representatives from some organizations to speak on issues including the Marriage Amendment, voter ID and ranked choice voting.
 
Platform proposals and resolutions will be offered following lunch.
 
“This is an opportunity to rally our supporters and speak to Minnesotans about what we can do together to put Minnesota first,” Jenkins said. “So many of our candidates are running because they’re fed up with elected leaders who continue to pass the buck on to others.
 
“The IP offers Minnesotans not just new leadership but the opportunity to tap into local solutions that focus on Minnesota communities, not the best interests of national political parties and special interest groups.”” Jenkins added.
 
After the convention, the party plans an evening reception at the restaurant in Roseville.
