"It Took Guts To Put an Actual Plan on The Table"

Rep. Jason Isaacson lauds Gov. Dayton for putting forth a state tax plan and budget. But he's also seeking constituent feedback.

State Rep. Jason Isaacson, District 42B, is applauding Gov. Mark Dayton this week for offering up a budget and tax plan, callilng it "a good starting point."

"It took guts and courage to put an actual plan on the table," said Isaacson, a DFL freshman legislator from Shoreview whose district includes that section of Roseville north and east of County Road C and Snelling Avenue.

At the same time, however, Isaacson said he is seeking constituent feedback on the governor's plan, specificalliy wondering how Dayton's the sales tax expansion would affect small businesses.

Isaacson released the following statement:

“I applaud Governor Dayton for introducing a plan to get Minnesota’s fiscal house in order. It took guts and courage to put an actual plan on the table, especially at a time when so many politicians seem content with avoiding big challenges and opt to simply kick the can down the road.

The Governor’s proposal is a good starting point in what will be a robust conversation over the course of the legislative session. I’m excited to see increased funding for our children’s education.

I’m also glad the Governor recognizes the need to do something about ever-increasing property tax rates. I believe that property tax relief must be a top priority as the debate over our state’s budget unfolds.

I plan on giving Governor Dayton’s budget and tax proposals a close look over the coming days and weeks. In particular, I want to learn more about how the Governor’s sales tax proposals would impact small businesses in my district and around the state.

Most importantly, I want to gather as much feedback and input from small businesses and my constituents as possible.

I’m looking forward to having lots of conversations and discussions with my constituents and small business owners about this important issue.”
