Jason Etten Running for Roseville Council

Long-time resident interested in "reinvesting in the community."

As a Roseville resident most of his life, Jason Etten said he has placed a high priority in supporting his community.

First it was helping organize neighborhood park cleanups, now he is serving as chairman of the Roseville Parks and Recreation Commission. Etten also helped spearhead and lead citizen participation in the city's Parks and Recreation master planning for $19 million in bonding for new projects and maintenance.

Now Etten, 37, is one of seven candidates running for the Roseville City Council. A primary election is scheduled next Tuesday (Aug. 14).

Asked why he is seeking election to the Council, Etten said he wants to make sure the city moves forward on renewal programs, including the new fire station and redevelopment of older areas. He said wants to keep Roseville a vibrant community.

Etten grew up in Roseville and said his parents still live in the home he knew as a boy. A graduate of Roseville Area High School, Etten moved away from Roseville for a short time but returned in 2004 to buy a home with his wife Jessica. (The couple have two children, Tommy and Abby.)

Etten is the choir director at Irondale High School in the Mounds View public schools. having held that position for 13 years. He has a bachelor's degree in K-12 music education from St. Olaf College and a master's in music education from the University of Minnesota.
