The Roseville Police Department said a 19-year-old Little Canada man was arrested by Maplewood Police early Thursday for an attempted robbery-shooting incident at the Lar-Dale Apartment complex in Roseville.
Roseville detectives plan to present their investigation to the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office today (Friday, July 27) for possible charging, the department said. Roseville Police said the incident appeared to be motivated by an illegal narcotics sales.
In a news statement issued Thursday, Roseville Police said they won't release the name of the suspect or his booking photo "until detectives complete their investigation. This case is active and remains under investigation."
The following is the Roseville Police Department's statement:
"On Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 1:40 a.m. officers from the Maplewood Police Department arrested a 19-year old Little Canada man for aggravated robbery stemming from an attempted robbery- shooting incident which occurred at the Lar-Dale Apartment complex located in Roseville hours earlier.
At 7:33 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25th, officers from the Roseville Police Department were dispatched to 655 Larpenteur Ave. W. on a report of shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with a number of witnesses who reported an unknown suspect fired multiple pistol rounds at another individual in the apartment complex parking lot. One of the rounds entered a lower level apartment living room window and fragmented. No injuries were reported to police.
Investigating officers learned the suspect had fled the scene in a motor vehicle prior to their arrival and the victim had fled to an unknown apartment within the complex.
With the cooperation of complex tenants, the 21-year old robbery victim was located by police in an apartment and found unharmed. When initially interviewed, the victim was less than cooperative with police claiming no knowledge of the robbery and/or shooting.
When confronted with witness statements, the victim admitted the robbery was the result of an illegal narcotics sale and acknowledged knowing the identity of the suspect.
Roseville Police put out an attempt to locate on the 19-year old suspect who was arrested by the Maplewood Police Department earlier this morning (Thursday) in the 500 block of Skillman Avenue East.
The suspect is currently being held at the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center on a probable cause aggravated robbery violation."
