Roseville Moms on The Run promoting fitness, fun and friendships, franchise owner says.

A new exercise venture for Roseville women is literally hitting the ground running.
Roseville is the latest Twin Cities community to get Moms on The Run, whose mission is promoting fun, fitness and friendships for women.
Roseville Moms on The Run is now accepting registrations, franchise owner Victoria Seim told Roseville Patch. The goal is to help women to get healthy and fit, she said.Β

"We are open to all women, not just moms," said Seim, also a YMCA group fitness trainer and former elementary school teacher. (Seim said, for example, that is not a mom yet, but she and her husband hope to become parents some day.)
Roseville Moms on The Run is offering class sessions for beginning and intermediate runners as well as a walking program, Seim said. The franchise's season runs from April through August. Class sessions are planned to be held at Central Park.Β

Cost for the twice-a-week class season package is $239 while a 20-class pass goes for $189. Seim said women can get a $20 discount on those two registration fees by contacting her and mentioning they saw this story on Patch.Β

Seim said that Moms on the Run began in 2008 in Forest Lake and was the inspiration of Karissa Johnson.Β
"A group of moms and babies were exercising in a local park when they decided they needed a new fitness goal to conquer: a 5K race,"according to the Moms web site. "Since then, almost $12,000 has been raised for charity and hundreds of women in Minnesota and Wisconsin have gone from walking to running their first 5Kk ever."
Today, Moms on The Run has 26 Twin Cities locations with Woodbury, Lakeville and Apple Valley among its locations. More than 1,000 women are expected to participate in the program this year.Β
Seim said that she has a passion for fitness. She ran cross country and track and field while attending Harding High School; then was a middle-distance runner for two years on Bethel University's women's track and field team.
Asked why she wanted to start the Roseville Moms on The Run chapter, Seim said, "It's exciting to see people start with a basic (class) and see them progress and finish a class or run. We are really excited to build this communilty in Roseville and reach those women in Roseville who don't think they can run."Β
