North Suburban Communications Commission Considering Action Tonight on Rates

The commission's meeting starts at 7 p.m. today,

The North Suburban Communications Commission is scheduled to meet tonight (Thursday) to consider setting rate orders on cable TV-related services.

The commission's business items include setting the maximum permitted basic programming service rate and the maximum permitted equipment and installation rates.

The big action item is the second rate order," Coralie Wilson, executive director of the North Suburban Committee Commission, .  We have gotten lots of complaints about rates since the beginning of the year when Comcast started charging $1.99 for digital transport adapters (DTAs) that were previously free.  This rate order addresses this fee and several other equipment fees that we believe Comcast has calculated incorrectly.

The second big issue is the digital conversion.  We have many questions about the effects of this conversion on subscribers, and we have yet to get answers from Comcast. We welcome the public to attend the meeting and speak during the public forum.

The meeting is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. today at the offices of CTV North Suburbs,  2670 Arthur St., Roseville.
