Police Seeking Victims of Credit Card Breach at Rosedale Restaurant

The Roseville Police Department on Thursday (June 28) said it is investigating  an alleged credit/debit skimming scheme whose victims were recently patrons  at a food court restaurant at Rosedale Center.

In an news release, the Roseville PD estimated losses at about $100,000 suffered by financial institutions victimized by the skimming scheme. 

The department said it is seeking customers of the Roseville Chinese Gourmet Express who had their credit/debit card compromised after eating at this restaurant between March 1 and June 1. If you were a victim of this alleged fraud, the police are asking you to call 651-792-7297 so they can compile a complete list of victims.

The news statement says: 

"In May, the Roseville Police Department began receiving calls from Rosedale Center employees complaining their credit/debit cards were being compromised and used throughout the United States despite the fact the victim’s card was still in their possession. Shortly thereafter, a number banks and credit unions alerted detectives to customers having their credit/debit cards compromised with the connection being all of their customers had recently used their financial transaction card at the located in the food court at Rosedale Center.
On Thursday, June 21th, Roseville Police officers,with assistance from the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department Computer Forensics Unit, executed a search warrant at the Chinese Gourmet Express Restaurant. Investigators confiscated business receipts, cellular telephones, computer equipment, surveillance imaging and a credit card machine for further forensic examination.

Detectives interviewed a number of the restaurants employees at the time of the search but made no arrests.
Shortly after executing the search warrant, the Chinese Gourmet Express corporate office  in California called the lead detective and explained that the corporation had become aware of a computer breach approximately two weeks earlier, involving the theft of customer credit/debit card information but they hadn’t notified local law enforcement of the security breach.
Investigators wish to compile a list of victims and their respective losses."
