High Fire Risk for Most of Central Minnesota

Dry conditions, hot temperatures raise fire risk; warning area includes Roseville.

The National Weather Service has most of central Minnesota, including Roseville, under a "Red Flag Warning," signalling that there is a high risk of any fires rapidly spreading.

While the fire warning is in effect today, Roseville Fire Chief Tim O'Neill said the city is not  "doing anything out of the normal for fire protection due to the red flag warning. The city of Roseville does not have a lot of open space, and the areas we do have are accessible for fire suppression in the event of a fire."

A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EITHER OCCURRING NOW...OR WILL SHORTLY. A COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS...LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY...AND WARM TEMPERATURES WILL CREATE EXPLOSIVE FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL.
