Fresenius Medical Care North America, the nation's leading network of dialysis facilities, recently honored its Roseville location as a Center for Excellence in patient care.

In a press statement, the company said its Roseville clinic, 2045 Rice St., won the honor "for achieving the highest standards in patient care in 2011. These annual awards recognize the facilities that perform the best, based on multiple objective measures of dialysis clinical quality."

Fresenius Medical Care said it selects Center of Excellence facilities by reviewing patients' outcome measures such as dialysis adequacy, control of anemia, nutritional status, patient satisfaction and transplant education, among others.

Dialysis patients typically require treatment on an ongoing basis unless they receive a kidney transplant, the company said.
