Roseville High School Gets a New Police Liaison Officer

Roseville Police Chief Rick Mathwig has named Police Investigator Maureen Sikorra as the new liaison officer for Roseville Area High School, the city said in a news statement.

Sikorra begins her new assignment at the end of August, working with students and teachers at the high school to build relationships and to serve as a role model for the high school students, the city said. Sikorra also will help teach classes and intervene in family disputes, if needed.
 
Sikorra has worked for the city of Roseville for more than 20 years. She spent seven years on the patrol division and was a DARE officer. In 1998, the Police Department assigned her as the juvenile investigator.

Shortly after starting that job, Sikorra received a grant to begin a Cops and Kids Mentoring Program where police officers meet with at-risk youth from the community, the city said. Sikorra also worked as a family violence detective. She established, among other things, a Teen Support Group, teaching teens how to manage power struggles in peaceful ways, the city said.
 
“Maureen will be a great addition to the staff at Roseville Area High School, and her patient personality will make it easy for students to speak with her directly and build rapport very quickly,” Mathwig said a press statement. “Maureen’s experience in family violence will afford her the chance to help the families of Roseville Area Schools.”
 
For her part, Sikorra said, "I look forward to working with the school and developing relationships with the students and staff. This is the type of work I most enjoy and I'm grateful for the variety of experiences I have had since starting my career with this department."
