Roseville Lutheran Church Hosting Healthy Eating, Caregiver Support Workshops
Pilot workshops being offered in April and May.

this spring is sponsoring two pilot workshop series for the community: Healthy Eating and Caregiver Support. Â

The workshops will be taught by professionals with training appropriate to each workshop topic. These include a registered dietician/certified diabetes educator, a nurse practioner/diabetes specialist, a registered dietician/developmental disabilities and elderly specialist and an occupational therapist. Please join us for one or more workshops.
All workshops will be held at Roseville Lutheran Church, 1215 W. Roselawn Ave. Beverages and snacks will be served and there will be handouts, so preregistration is necessary for each workshop (651-647-9506).Â

There is a $5 fee, payable at each workshop, to help cover the cost of handouts. Workshops are limited to 15 participants. If more people want to register, an afternoon session of the same workshop will be held on the day the workshop is scheduled (overflow session).Â

You are INVITED to join us to share ideas on how we can live healthy, eating foods we enjoy. Everyone is welcome. If you are in a new situation needing to improve your cooking skills, or if you love to cook and want to share new ideas, come join us for a morning of fun gaining new skills and meeting new people.

Come discuss the latest information on eating healthy. Bring your favorite recipe to share. Discuss grocery shopping on a budget. Review label reading.  Discuss the new dietary guidelines for Healthy America using My Plate.gov.  Get ideas for Cooking for one or two people.

Healthy Eating for Individuals with Diabetes Type 2
Monday, May 7, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; overflow session 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Roseville Lutheran Church – room 40
Come discuss how you can eat what you want and still control your diabetes.  Discuss what affects blood sugars. How to eat what you want and still have blood sugar control. Learn simple carb counting. Discuss the benefits of being part of a team to manage your diabetes
Caregiver Support series: Dining Challenges
Monday, May 21, 10 a.m. to noon; overflow session 2 to 4 p.m. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â

If you are a home caregiver for someone with eating difficulties which may be caused by dementia, stroke, or other related diseases, come join a discussion with a question and answer session to help you improve your caregiving skills.
 A registered dietician specializing in dining and feeding skills for the elderly, a nurse practitioner and an occupational therapist will lead this discussion. They will demonstrate techniques for you to use, in order to provide the dining nutritional needs of individuals with eating difficulties.
