Single-Sort Recycling May Be an Option in Roseville's Bidding Process

Would like to see single-sort recycling? Roseville is in the midst of preparing criteria for bids on a new recycling contract.

When Roseville puts its city recycling contract out for bids by this summer, the community's request for proposals (RFPs) may include an option for vendors to compete on providing single-sort recycling.

"The Public Works Commission has been weighing in on the recycling service in preparation for the city requesting proposals for the next contract,"  Roseville Public Works Director Duane Schwartz told Roseville Patch. "They (the commissioners) just finished discussing community values which will help guide the request for proposals.

"They did not distinguish single sort versus multi sort in the community values discussion," Schwartz said. I don’t know if the request for proposals will limit to one or the other at this point."

Meanwhile, city Recycling Coordinator Tim Pratt told Patch this week that community values will be used as a guide in evaluating vendors' bids for the city's next recycling contract, he said.

Pratt said he expects the Public Works commission to have recommended RFP guidelines ready for the City Council to consider in the next couple of months. The city's current recycling conktract, which is with Eureka Recycling, expires at the end of 2013.
