Roseville Rewind: Hockey Coach's Resignation Tops The Week's News

This past week also saw spirited debate on the proposed Marriage amendment at the Human Rights Commission forum and outgoing state House Rep. Mindy Greiling vote against the Vikings stadium bill.

 

In one of the most controversial issues in months in Roseville, Roseville High School boys head hockey coach Jeff Pauletti tendered his resignation this past week so, he said, he could address the School Board to refute allegations that he has bullied and intimidated players.

The Pauletti resignation and the district's hockey probe topped the list of newsmakers this past week in Roseville Patch coverage. Patch's coverage over the course of three days sparked a flurry of spirited and sometimes brutal commentary from readers. In other news, a large crowd of citizens packed Roseville City Hall this past Thursday to share their thoughts on whether the Human Rights Commission should take a position on the proposed state Marriage Amendment. This coming November, Minnesota residents will vote on whether to amend the state constitution to define marriage as specifically between a man and woman. Here is the link to that story:

Meanwhile, state lawmakers approved the Vikings stadium bill, ending a 10-year quest by the professional football team for a new sports venue. But Roseville-area state legislators Sen. John Marty and Rep. Mindy Greiling opposed the stadium. Greiling, who has retired at the end of the 2012 session after serving 20 years in the House, outlined her reasons for opposing the stadium bill, in an e-mail news alert.
