Roseville's Pust Loses DFL Endorsement for House District 42B
Jason Isaacson, of Shoreview, wins on third ballot.

Roseville's Tammy Pust lost Satuday in her bid for DFL endorsement for the new state House District 42B.
Pust, currently a member of the Roseville City Council, lost on the third ballot to Jason Isaacson, a Shoreview resident and a communication instructor at Century College in White Bear Lake. Isaacson is a member of Education Minnesota and has worked on several DFL campaigns during the past decade.
With 100 House District 42B delegates voting, the prevailing candidate needed 60 percent or 60 votes to win the endorsement. Isaacson prevailed in the third ballot after drawing 54 votes on the first round and 57 on the second round. Pust got 37 votes on the first ballot and 43 in the second round after another candidate, Sheila Kelly, dropped out of the race.

After the convention, Isaacson said he and Pust were very similar on the issues. But he speculated that delegates were impressed with his passion for the race.
"We need more than just a vote (in the House); we need a leader in our district," Isaacson said. He praised Pust for quickly closing ranks to support him.

"This isn't about us, but getting the district off on the right foot," Isaacson said.
House 42B includes that section of Roseville that is north and east of County Road C and Snelling Avenue.
Bev Scalze, representative for former House District 54A, won the DFL endorsement for the new Senate District 42.
