Roseville Students Shine at Problem Solving State Contest

The district has two teams and four individuals advancing to the international conference in Bloomington, Indiana.

Roseville Area High School recently hosted the Minnesota Future Problem Solving Program (FPSP) State Tournament. 

FPSP is a rigorous, yearlong program and competition.  In it, students in grades four through 12th, learn and apply critical and creative thinking skills as well as research, communication, and decision-making skills.

For the competition, teams of students used these skills and worked together to form a plan that addressed a future problem in a given topic. The team and individual competitions were split into three divisions for the competition:  junior division (grades 4-6), middle division (grades 7-9) and senior division (grades 10-12).

Junior Division, Team Competition:

5th Place:

Advancing to International Competion

Two student teams and four individuals will be representing Roseville Area Schools at the 2012 International Future Problem Solving Program Conference. that is scheduled June 7 to 10 at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.  These are the following students:

Middle Division Team:

Ann Dion, Hans Knutson, Nathan Meyers, and Sonja Swanson, with alternate, Mitchell Rose; representing Roseville Area High School

Middle Division Team:

Heather Knutson, Carmen Swanson, Rose Wagner, and Bianca Wang-Polendo, with alternates Eileen Schrot and Emily Lentz-Hoops; representing Parkview Center School

Junior Division Individual:

Maura Hearn; representing Parkview Center School

Middle Division Individual:

Noah Lyden; representing Roseville Area High School

Middle Division Individual:
