Showdown: McCollum Leads Fight against Washington's NFL Team Name
Protest comes to a head as Vikings host Redskins in Thursday Night Football.

U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum (DFL-MN), who represents Minnesota's Fourth District including Stillwater, Woodbury, Roseville and Oakdale, is gaining a national profile as a leader in the campaign to change the Washington Redskins team name and mascot.Â
McCollum, who co-chairs the Congressional Native American Caucus, will join an American Indian Movement protest at Mall of America Field at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome before Thursday's Vikings-Washington matchup, the Star Tribune reported.Â
"It’s not a boycott, it’s not a protest against the NFL, it’s a protest against a racial slur," the newspaper quoted her as saying in an article Thursday about her activism on the issue.Â
