They're Celebrating Their 66th Wedding Anniversary

Roseville couple met in the service in the South Pacific.

It's a milestone few people ever achieve: Roseville's Nina and Alvin Ahlf are celebrating their 66th wedding anniversary today (Saturday, June 30).

The couple met in the service in the South Pacific at the 42nd General Hospital during World War II. Alvin was a medic; Nina was an Army nurse.

During their working careers; Alvin was the funeral director of Holcomb-Henry-Boom-Purcell Funeral Home in Shoreview; Nina was an RN at St. Luke's Hospital and later Ramsey County.

Asked what is the secret to a long marriage, the 89-year-old Nina laughed, "You each have to give 60 percent."

The couple, who are members of Roseville Lutheran Church, are still active: They helped served water to runners competing last Saturday at the Rosefest Run for the Roses races.
