Voters Narrow Field to Two in Ramsey County District 2
McGuire, Jeffers advance to general election. Meanwhile McCollum and Herandez to face off in race for Fourth District U.S. Representative.

Voters in Ramsey County District 2, which includes Roseville, voted Tuesday to send long-time state legislator Mary Jo McGuire and former conservative radio show host Sue Jeffers on to the November general election.
On Primary Election Day, the unofficial results showed McGurie placing first with 3,139 votes or 51.13 percent of the ballots cast. Jeffers was runner-up with 2,152 votes or 35.05 percent of all ballots cast.
Eiminated and placing third in the County Board race was Mary Burg, a New Brighton City Council member. She received 848 votes or 13.81 percent of the ballots cast.

Meanwhile, advancing to the November general election in the race for Fourth District U.S. Congressional Representative were on the DFL side incumbent Betty McCollum and on the Republican side Tony Hernandez.Â

McCollum received 23,111 votes or 84.5 percent of ballots, far outpacing former Maplewood Mayor Diana Longrie, 2,677 votes (9.79 percent) and Brian Stalboerger, 1,549 votes (5.67 percent).
On the Republican side, Hernandez picked up 4,832 votes or 65.83 percent of the total in trouncing Ron Seiford, who got 2,508 votes or 34.17 percent of the total.
