Anchor Glass, Including Shakopee Facility, Sold to European Group

Ardagh Group is expected to purchase Anchor for $880 million.

Ardagh Group, a global leader in glass and metal packaging solutions, has agreed to buy , which has a large manufacturig plant in Shakopee.

The group, based in Luxembourg, will purchase Anchor from private investment funds managed by Wayzata Investment Partners LLC for $880 million. The deal is expected to close at the end of August 2012.

Anchor, which is headquartered in Tampa, Fla., makes glass containers serving the North American food and beverage industries. Anchor is the third largest glass container manufacturer in the US.  It produces approximately 5.6 billion containers annually from its eight facilities located in the United States and employs approximately 2,900 people, according to its website. Anchor has annual revenues of approximately $800 million.
