Businesses Say ‘I Do’ to Providing Wedding Services to Same-Sex Couples

After passing in May, a bill allowing for same-sex civil unions in Minnesota will go into effect Aug. 1, 2013.

Same-sex unions in Minnesota will be legal at 12:01 a.m. Aug. 1, and some local businesses, places of worship and organizations have said yes to providing wedding-related services to the Minnesota LGBT community, including two in Shakopee.

From flowers to honeymoon planning to wedding venues, Wedding Equality Minnesota's website lists hundreds willing to share in the festivities. The website, which is a Project 515 initiative in cooperation with OutFront Minnesota, says:

“The businesses and organizations you’ll find here have stated that they are actively seeking to provide wedding-related services to the Minnesota LGBT community.”
