Council green lights partnership proposal with Twin Cities Orthopedics

The City Council approved a proposal to partner with E-Train and their long-term partner Training HAUS, which is owned by Twin Cities Orthopedics. The proposal would allow E-Train and Training HAUS to begin a 5-year lease of space at the Shakopee Ice Arena where Training HAUS would have a minimum of one full-time and one part-time sports performance coach. Within one year, TCO would establish a physical therapy presence in the Shakopee Ice Arena/Community Center with one part-time sports physical therapist. Training HAUS would also provide a sports dietician for use by athletes and Shakopee community members and a clinical navigator for athletes injured in their sport. Training HAUS would offer Shakopee athletes access to free high school sports physical exams hosted in the metro area, as well. Council moves forward with 2022 street reconstruction project

The City Council held a public hearing and ordered the preparation of plans and specifications for the 2022 full-depth pavement reconstruction project. The projects impacts Gorman Street, Weston Court and Greenwood Court. More information: Ryan Halverson, Assistant City Engineer, 952-233-9366.

City renews ice rental agreement with Shakopee Youth Hockey Association

The City Council approved the five-year renewal of the city’s ice rental agreement with the Shakopee Youth Hockey Association. SYHA will pay $315,000 in years one and two, $322,000 in years three and four and $329,000 in year five, with a minimum commitment of 1,400 ice hours each year. City seeking grant funding for Memorial Park restoration project

The City Council approved the submission of an application to the Metro Conservation Partners Legacy Grant for a project to restore Memorial Park to its native prairie land and stabilize the riverfront to protect vegetation. The estimated cost of this project is $220,000, and a 10% match would be required of the city if the grant is awarded.   • Utility extension project

    The City Council ordered the advertisement for bids for a utility extension project on Maras Street, Hansen Avenue and 13th Avenue. The bid will be awarded in late winter or early spring 2022, with construction later in 2022. The project is budgeted in the 2022 Capital Improvement Plan.   • Lift station rehabilitation

    The City Council ordered the advertisement for bids for a lift station rehabilitation project. The bid will be awarded in late winter or early spring 2022, with construction between May and December 2022. The project is budgeted in the 2022 Capital Improvement Plan.   • Cured-in-place sewer pipe lining project
  • The City Council ordered the advertisement for bids for the 2022 cured-in-place sewer pipe lining project, which will help maintain the city’s existing sanitary sewer infrastructure. The bid will be awarded in late winter 2022, with construction in summer 2022. This project is budgeted for $180,000 in the 2022 Capital Improvement Plan.
