As fall programs begin to open for registration, Shakopee Parks and Recreation will move to a new registration system. On Aug. 24, the city will begin phasing out Max Galaxy as it’s registration software and move to CivicRec. Registrations will be completed using the CivicRec platform at that time. The transition was made necessary as Max Galaxy runs in part through Microsoft Silverlight, which Microsoft will no longer provide support on Oct. 12.

CivicRec will continue to provide the ability for residents to register for programs and Community Center membership from the comfort of home. The intuitive program allows residents to easily search for programs through tabs on the main menu divided by program area. Residents can now register for programs using a mobile device. Community Center room rentals and Youth Building rentals will also be available online with CivicRec.

Unlike Max Galaxy, CivicRec allows users to connect their account to a debit or credit card, allowing residents to instantly register for programs. Max Galaxy required residents to provide checking account information (including account and routing numbers) for monthly memberships. With CivicRec, this will no longer be an option.

Because of this, on Sept. 30, all accounts associated with a checking account will be suspended. Residents with monthly memberships may experience a lapse in service if a debit or credit card number is not provided in their Community Center membership.

During this transition, Community Center members are asked to change their membership information with the Parks and Recreation Department by connecting a credit or debit card to their account. This will prevent any lapse in service for customers.

Residents can change their information in person, or online at www.ShakopeeMN.gov/registration. During the Community Center closure between Aug. 27 and Sept. 6, residents will be able to change their membership information by visiting the Ice Arena.

Additionally, members will need to update their photos after Aug. 27. This can be done during the closure, or prior to a member’s visit after the Community Center reopens on Sept. 7.
