Socialization, fitness, sportsmanship, teamwork and increased self-esteem are just a few. Perhaps your child would like to develop or expand a particular expertise, or simply hone their skills in preparation for school teams or clubs.

Ah, but where to begin the search?

The Shakopee Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department is likely the best place to start. The department partners with a number of sports leagues for youth, adults and seniors.

Clubs such as the YMCA, scouting groups, or even nearby swim, tennis or country clubs are viable options as well. Likely outside the school district, such clubs present opportunities for children to meet and mingle with a new set of peers. New friends are an added perk.
