Five Shakopee Bars Face Review for Liquor Violations

The city has set a hearing to review the liquor licenses of five well-known spots that failed an alcohol compliance check last fall.

Five locals bars and restaurants could face penalties for alcohol violations.

Wine Cellars, Dangerfield's, Stonebrooke Golf Club, Raceway Park, and American Legion Club Post No. 2 were all cited for serving minors during alcohol compliance checks on August 24, 2012 and October 6, 2012.

For each, this is the first violation in the last three years.

If found to be serving those under 21, the city is empowered by the state to impose a fine of upt to $2,000 and revoke or suspend a bar's license of up to 60 days. However, under current city ordinance, the penalties for the first or second incident in a three-year period can be reduced to a $1,000 fine and a one-day license suspension, or even less if the licensee has no further trouble with compliance. 

The city has set a hearing for Tuesday, April 16, 2013 to review the matter.
