Forecast: Will Shakopee Have a Dry Fourth of July?

After June's deluge (late) and below-average temperatures (early), what can we expect for the summer's biggest holiday weekend? Here's a hint: grab the sunscreen.

It's a four-day weekend, topped off with hot dogs, wiener dogs, horses and family.

Maybe even a trip on the Wild Thing.

That's a Shakopee Fourth of July.

So, the million-dollar question is, will we have a dry moment?

The answer, in a nutshell, is yes. That's a departure from what seems to have been the norm lately, as more than 10 inches of precipitation has fallen on the Shakopee area since April, making it one of the wettest springs (remember, summer officially started last week) on record here in the Minnesota River valley

According to the Twin Cities National Weather Service in nearby Chanhassen, the South Metro should see some nice temperatures, slightly below average. Highs should be in the upper 70s or even hit 80, with lows a "windows open" 60 or 65.

That's perfect for sparklers, Snaps and those ugly, little black snakes you light off on the sidewalk.
