House, Senate Leaders Sign On for Rally in Support of Striking Cretex Workers
Dozens of workers went on strike in June after the company proposed to end pension contributions and use a 401(k) plan instead.

Laborers Local 563, the union supporting dozens of Cretex Companies' workers on strike in Skakopee, will hold a rally at 10 a.m. Aug. 6 on the picket line, and Minnesota legislators will be present to show their support.
According to a press release, Minnesota Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk and House Speaker Paul Thissen are among the elected officials and other community members who will be present at the rally. Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) General President Terry O’Sullivan will also be in attendance.
Members of Laborers Local 563 went on strike June 19 after negotiations on a new contract for 38 members broke down because of a Cretex proposal to stop company contributions to workers’ pensions and offer a company match to 401(k) contributions instead.Â
