Man Shoots Himself Prior To Questioning About Missing Eden Prairie Woman

Police are seeking information on 24-year-old Eden Prairie resident Mandy Matula, who was reported missing Thursday.

In the investigation related to missing Eden Prairie resident Mandy Matula, Eden Prairie Police have completed a search of the Miller Park area just after 8 p.m. No new details are available at this time.

UPDATED: 6:37 p.m. May 2

The Eden Prairie Police Department learned Mandy Marie Matula was missing at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, May 2, according to a city news release. Her family said she did not go to work and they last saw her at 11 p.m. on May 1.

The news release said someone saw Matula and David Marshall Roe in Miller Park at around 1:30 a.m. May 2. Officials are currently searching the park on foot.

"Matula and Roe were believed to be traveling in a 2013 black Ford Escape with Minnesota license plate number 802-KNA when they were last seen," according to the news release.

A man police wanted to talk to about a missing Eden Prairie woman shot himself in the head Thursday afternoon before police could talk to him, Police Lt. Bill Wyffels said. Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the woman.

Mandy Matula, 24, of Eden Prairie, was reported missing after she failed to show up to work Thursday. The last time police can confirm that she was seen was at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, when she was with her family. 

Police also have an unconfirmed sighting of Matula at 1:30 a.m. Thursday. She was reportedly with 24-year-old David Marshall Roe, of Victoria, in Miller Park at the time.

Roe was "a known associate" of Matula’s. The character of their relationship is not known.

Officers asked to speak to him, and he agreed to come in. However, he shot himself in the head with a handgun just after he arrived at Eden Prairie City Center and parked in the parking lot. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. His current status is not known.
