Mdewakanton Organic Recycling Plant to Accept Yard Waste Free of Charge During May

The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community Organics Recycling Facility will take residents' yard waste free of charge on select dates this month.

For a limited time, Shakopee residents will be able to dispose of compostable yard waste completely gratis, courtesy of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community.

The tribe's Organics Recycling Facility will accept yard waste from Shakopee, Prior Lake and Savage residents free of charge on Saturdays through May 25. Acceptable materials include "leaves, grass clippings, sod, brush, branches and logs less than 10 feet in length." The facility is located at 1905 Canterbury Road is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday in May. 

After May 25, the SMSC facility will accept waste for a fee throughout the summer.
