Minneapolis Woman Found Dead in St. Louis Park Had Lived in Shakopee

Nerissa Annette Shaw was found dead in St. Louis Park. For a time, she lived in Shakopee, her niece reported to St. Louis Park Patch.

Nerissa Annette Shaw, 46, of Minneapolis, died on Friday, Sept. 13. Her body was found wrapped in sheets behind a business in St. Louis Park, reported St. Louis Park Patch.

Her boyfriend, Walter Thompson III, is charged with her murder. Thompson's sister and daughter are charged with felony accomplices after the fact.

Troy Shaw, the niece of Nerissa Shaw, told St. Louis Park Patch that her aunt was "a fun-loving mom of three who enjoyed fishing and family." Nerissa Shaw spent some time living in Shakopee and Richfield and appeared to be doing well.

Five years ago, she met Thompson, which started a cycle of domestic abuse, a period of homelessness and alcoholism, said Shaw's niece.

She told Patch“What I want to see happen is that domestic abuse laws change to protect the victims more than they protect the perpetrators,” she said. “When you look at how many interactions they had with that man, they knew that there was an issue, but they didn’t do anything.”
