More Than 75 Events Set for Shakopee Night to Unite Tuesday

On Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 5-9 p.m., the City of Shakopee and residents all over the city will participate in the 4th annual Minnesota Night to Unite celebration. 

Night to Unite is designed to:

• Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.

• Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts.

The encourages participation in this great celebration of community, crime prevention and strong police/community partnerships. 

In Shakopee, there are 78 block parties and other events registered with the city. Check the attached .pdf for a list of local events. (To see it best, once you've clicked on the .pdf, click on "Fullscreen" at the top of the document).

Shakopee police officers and explorers, firefighters, paramedics, McGruff the Crime Dog, city and county staff will visit registered events.

"Excited to see everyone at Night 2 Unite this evening," Shakopee Mayor Brad Tabke posted on Facebook Tuesday morning. "(Police) Chief (Jeff) Tate, (City Administrator) Mark McNeill and I will be hitting as many parties as we can."

Residents whose neighborhoods did not register an event are still encouraged to come out and meet with neighbors. 

Last year's Night to Unite in Shakopee saw 80 events.
