Motorcyle Ride to Save Lives and a New Mountain Bike Team

Also happening in Shakopee this week is "Celebrity Storytime" at the Shakopee Library.

The beginning of the week is a great time to take stock of the upcoming events happening in Shakopee. Here are some of the highlights for this week.

Head out to the Shakopee library for storytime with "local notables." The family event starts at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23.

Public Office 101

The Shakopee Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Public Office 101 workshop on Wednesday, July 24 at 6 p.m. for those interested in running for office. Topics covered in the workshop will give potential candidates information about open seats available, the political process and more.

The workshop will be held in the Shakopee Police Training Room, located at 475 Gorman Street.

Shakopee Farmers Market

Get your fresh produce!

The Shakopee Farmers Market offers produce and more at the American Legion in Shakopee. The market occurs on Thursdays and opens at 11 a.m. and ends at around 6 p.m.

Ride to Save Lives

Registration for the Ride to Save Lives West Metro event ends at noon on Friday, July 26. The charity fundraising event is a motorcycle ride to benefit SAVE, a non-profit organization for suicide prevention. 

The motorcycle ride begins 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 27 at Vic’s Bar and Grill in Victoria, 7900 Quamoclit.

West Metro High School Mountain Bike Team

A new co-ed mountain bike team is looking for potential members on Saturday, July 27 at the Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve mountain bike trail head. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

From the event on Shakopee Patch:

Meet members and coaches of the team, go for a ride with the teams and give mountain biking a try, whether it’s your first time or you just want to meet members of the team! No cost to come and try it out! 

The team, consisting of students from Shakopee, Eden Prairie, and Bloomington, plans to compete in the Minnesota High School Cycling League.
