New Prague Middle Evacuated After Bomb Threat—U.S. Marshals Service to Investigate
Thursday morning, New Prague Middle School was once again on the receiving end of threats, this time from an unknown party claiming that bombs had been planted in the building.

After a lockdown on Wednesday, on Thursday school officials at New Prague Middle School evacuated students after receiving bomb threats.
According to the Scott County Sheriff's Office, the New Prague Police Department was dispatched to the school at 8:35 a.m. on report of several bomb threats sent to administrators and staff via e-mail. The e-mails were identical. All stated that there were bombs planted around the building which would detonate in 30 minutes.
Students and staff were evacuated from both the Middle School and the Central Education Campus to the New Prague Community Center. A search of the building and grounds was fruitless. The bomb threats were determined to be a hoax. Students and staff returned to school after about an hour.
At present, the district is working with the U.S. Marshals Service to ferret out the culprit. At this time, authorities do not believe the e-mails were sent by a New Prague Area Schools student.
Yesterday a 12-year-old boy was taken into custody after he allegedly phoned in a false report of a shooting at the school.
