PHOTOS: International Fashion on Parade at Shakopee High
Friday, a group of Shakopee High students from Leaders in Education and Diversity showed off styles from around the globe, from Vietnam to Deutschland to the horn of Africa.
During the Friday lunch hour, students at Shakopee High got an unusual treat: A spring fashion show with international flair, thanks to Leaders in Education and Diversity. The parade of styles from around the world reflects the increasing ethnic diversity of the Shakopee school district's student body. As of 2012, only 65.9 percent of the 7,400 students in grades K-12 were white. That year, 13.1 percent of the students enrolled were Asian, 12.1 percent were Hispanic or Latino, 7.1 percent were black and 1.8 percent were American Indian.
